Wytham Woods

Only for specific access, and all road vehicles must stay on the surfaced track. Parking is very limited and the overflow carpark should be used where possible. Please make enquiries for your needs: OGE@admin.ox.ac.uk
 

Anybody else who is helping with your project in any way must also have a research permit. Please ask them to fill out the registration form.

Specific permission is required with suitable vehicles only.

Some areas are waterlogged all year round, vehicles will damage the tracks.

We will assist where needed but walking is best.

 

You will need to notify us of your plans. We have activities which may put you in danger if we do not know your whereabouts . We have created WhatsApp groups to help with safety and notifications. We will add you to relevant groups if you specify your intentions.

We will close access to the Woods when average wind speeds reach 40mph. Do not enter if the conditions are this unfavourable. Researchers will receive updates via the relevant WhatsApp group. To receive these updates make sure you register your mobile phone number on your research application form.

There will be physical signs and updated notice boards at the gates and a bulletin on the home page of the website. Closed to everyone means no access due to the woods being unsafe.

We have scheduled closures as well as unforeseen ones due to high winds and other reasons. You will be notified as soon as possible of anything planned.

Park Farm

There are public footpaths and a cycle path. Vehicle access is very restricted to residents and land users. Please plan to walk and or cycle. If you have any requirements, please contact: OGE@admin.ox.ac.uk

Not without permission, and very specific detail on what you plan to do. Please contact OGE@admin.ox.ac.uk.

Please keep to the public rights of way. You are welcome to use the signposted cycle routes and footpaths, but do not go elsewhere without permission.

You will need to ask permission; this is private tenanted land. There is a famer who grazes and would need to know who and what you are doing. Please ask OGE@admin.ox.ac.uk who can ask permission on your behalf. You will need to have a plan and timings, especially when the fields are occupied. If you are granted access to the site for research, please keep to the signposted footpaths and cycle routes, and don't go anywhere else without permission.
